The Hot Shot contest is sponsored by the Blakely-Early County Recreation Department. The event is hosted two weekends after Thanksgiving at the Bessie Scott gymnasium. Participants are split into age groups as they would play in the youth basketball league with the Department. The contestants are given one minute to shoot the basketball from five different positions on the court. The contestant with the most points is the winner. Trophies are given to first and second place male and female for each age group. Registration always concludes for youth basketball immediately following the Hot Shot contest.
